A Marmorino reference image is a starting point, not a complete specification. For a villa, restaurant or hotel interior, the useful question is not simply which colour to choose, but how the finish should look across the actual wall and alongside the rest of the design.
Use this checklist when discussing Marmorino or Venetian plaster with SurfaceLab and your project team.
Separate colour, movement and sheen
When sharing references, explain which qualities matter. Is it the warmth of the colour, the amount of tonal movement, the visible trowel marks or the level of polish? Two images described as Marmorino may represent very different design intentions. Ask which material and technique the proposed sample represents.
Review the sample in context
Place the sample beside the flooring, joinery, stone and fabrics selected for the space. Look at it in daylight and under the proposed artificial lighting, from different viewing positions. Agree the direction from the physical sample rather than relying only on a phone photograph.
Discuss the scale of the wall
A small sample cannot show every junction or the full rhythm of a large feature wall. Mark corners, curves, recesses, sockets and transitions on the drawings. For a prominent or complex surface, discuss whether a larger mock-up is appropriate and agree its scope and cost.
Record what has been approved
Keep the approved sample identified and record the chosen colour, texture direction, sheen, intended areas and relevant product information. Clarify how natural variation will be reviewed, and who signs off the design direction before the specialist work proceeds.
Ask about the complete project scope
Establish who is responsible for preparation, samples, protection of adjacent work, access and the final review. Ask for the selected system’s care guidance. If the location is wet or exposed, raise that at the outset rather than assuming suitability from the finish name.
