Rustic decorative finishes give walls a deliberately irregular, weathered or timeworn appearance. Layering and application technique create the character, from subtle worn-plaster movement to stronger texture and colour contrast. The aim is an intentional surface, not a random distressed effect.

Where this finish works in the design

Restaurants, cafés, hospitality features and residential spaces with earthy, vintage or industrial design references.

Developing your finish

Agree how aged the wall should look, the size of the texture and the amount of contrast. A restrained sample can produce a calm backdrop, while darker recesses and stronger marks create a more theatrical feature.

Choosing the right direction

For a softer clouded finish, compare limewash. For a more structured, stone-inspired surface, compare travertine or rock effects.

From reference to final review

SurfaceLab brings finish selection and hands-on project management together for villas, hospitality and commercial spaces in Dubai and across the UAE. We review the references, approximate areas, surface conditions and programme, then develop the colour and texture through an agreed sample. Specialist work and finish-quality reviews are managed against the approved direction.

Pricing depends on the area, preparation, access, detailing and finish complexity. Any sample or mock-up costs are agreed in advance. Share your location, dimensions, reference images and target timing so we can discuss the right scope.
