Velvet-effect finishes create a gentle play of light across the wall, giving the impression of fabric-like softness without using a textile covering. The appearance changes with viewing angle and lighting. It can be subtle and tonal or more expressive, depending on the colour and application direction.

Where this finish works in the design

Bedrooms, lounges, dining rooms and hospitality features where a softer visual character is preferred over strong physical texture.

Developing your finish

Compare samples in daylight and under the planned lighting. The direction of application and the balance of light and shade should be agreed across the whole wall, especially beside windows and concealed lighting.

Choosing the right direction

This is a decorative wall finish, not fabric upholstery. For a stronger reflective statement, compare metallic finishes; for a more matte mineral look, compare limewash.

From reference to final review

SurfaceLab brings finish selection and hands-on project management together for villas, hospitality and commercial spaces in Dubai and across the UAE. We review the references, approximate areas, surface conditions and programme, then develop the colour and texture through an agreed sample. Specialist work and finish-quality reviews are managed against the approved direction.

Pricing depends on the area, preparation, access, detailing and finish complexity. Any sample or mock-up costs are agreed in advance. Share your location, dimensions, reference images and target timing so we can discuss the right scope.
